I believe in learning, listening and the power of good questions.

That’s really the heart of human centered design and user experience research, isn’t it?

I fell into research from a job during grad school and loved it. I’ve worked in a two-person LLC, nonprofits, mid-sized and larger companies, in a number of industries. Every job has taught me something, often how business works.

And now, I am on a self-directed journey into UX, currently working in product in B2B SaaS. My background in quality improvement, software testing, journalism and teaching strengthen my investigation and creation on how to make systems and products work better.

  • Uh, no.

    I took my first UX design class in 2018. IDEO’s Human Centered Design course a year later. And before that Edward Tufte’s Presenting Data and Information, (2014) and I took foundational art classes as an undergraduate.

  • Because I thought it was a position I could stand up for users. Having my current role though has only further emphasized the need for proper UXR.


    I do get to work with designers, which is real joy and I’ve worked closely with developers in many jobs.

    Trivia: My first job out of college was with product development, an art kit called Draw Today.

    3. My beloved (adopted of course) dog Hapi was named after a database: Health and Psychosocial Instruments.
